The truth is over 90 % of self defense situations end up on the ground.
Unfortunately many self defense systems lack proper ground training to enable you to successfully protect yourself. Many of these ineffective systems come from traditional martial arts from Japan, China, and Korea which are one dimensional, do not have satisfactory ground training or poorly mix fighting styles. Unfortunately, thousands of people are still being given a false sense of self confidence in their self-defense abilities. Are you training in a martial art or self-defense system which is not proven time and time again?
In the 1993 Rorion Gracie from the legendary Gracie family who founded Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), debuted the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). The purpose of the UFC was to prove to the world the effectiveness and dominance of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Up until that point the effectiveness of martial arts in comparison to another were commonly disputed by theory and rarely in a realistic situation. In the first UFC tournament Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fighter Royce Gracie use the leverage and power of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu to defeat his much larger opponents. Today many the effectiveness of many traditional martial arts in a realistic situation are still only theorized by experts. Most Brazilian Jiu Jitsu schools still keep with the Gracie’s UFC spirit of proving the effectiveness of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu by honoring on-the-spot challenge matches from visitors of another martial arts style.
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is the most effective ground self-defense system in existence. BJJ enables a smaller opponent to use technique and leverage to defeat a larger opponent.
Our Self Defense training involves a base of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu combined with Wrestling, Judo and fundamentals of Muay Thai and Boxing.
